Changes they are a comin!
1) Went to see a really interesting documentary called Monumental - about David Brower re: Sierra Club
2) Had a random day Saturday ended up exploring Brooklyn, which included Coney Island (yup that right HOT DOGS!), as well as a 3 hour walk from Prospect Park through to the Manhattan bridge and up into SOHO
3) Swapped numbers with a Peruvian.. too tired to explore this option and not interested in the bar scenes
4) Started to geek out again
4.1) Got the old rubberdinghy files back
4.2) Got a hosting service lined up to put up the old rubberdinghy site
4.3) Changing the blog to a different back end that I like way way more - just a geek out thing really, lets me pretend without doing the hard work… but I think that people will enjoy the more positive color theme and layout
5) Went to the gym I am WUSS. My feet hurt in my climbing shoes. My hands got sore just looking that holds on the climbing wall. I might not be able to get up a 5.4 that is longer than 10 feet. Bouldering anything more than a V1 seemed tricky… heck some of the V1’s seemed tricky… I am a WUSS!
6) Talked the guy who has the running group at Chelsea Piers - I think I will start doing the track workouts on Monday and/or Wednesday’s with the group
6.1) There is a race on Saturday that they race as a team, I will likely go and see if I can not once and for all meet someone that i can call my friend so I can get a TV. I don’t think this group is going to be great for the marathon training, but its a start
7) As part of the reset which is going well I have been reading way more - from almost none to at least an hour an day (on average)
8) Found a great Spanish restaurant on Clinton Street
Well its taking the server longer than I thought so I will include what was going to be a separate post:
I have lined up a couple of things that I may as well get in the open so I have to be committed to them:
Event A) Redwoods Marathon - Oct - I want to run a marathon a year with NAN! and she did not get into the NYC marathon so we’ll do this one. We will also do some camping, climbing and hopefully mountain biking in Marin County. Seeing as how we ran the original marathon route in Athen’s last year, mountain biking in what is often call the birth place of mountain biking seems like a good goal. NAN! has challenges me with the location for the birth of climbing, which I think we’ll narrow to sport climbing… If you know, let us know.
Event B) NYC Marathon - Nov - Well neither NAN nor Dr. Dave got picked in the raffle, but I did. Seeing as how I can’t be 100% sure that I will be in NYC next year I am going to run the race this year. It will likely just be me here as no visitors are scheduled, but that’s okay I hear there are more fans than runners and there are 50,000 runners.
Event C) New Years Ski Trip - NAN!, DeAnn and I are going on a ski trip again, I am sure lots will want to come but they will all bail for one reason or another and we’re not interested in changing plans or making plans for others to decide on.. so we’ll see who is there. I have confidence in NAN! and DeAnn.
Event D) Haute Route - This is the big trip!!! I’ll post a lot more about it soon but this is a 12 day ski traverse from Chamonix to Zermat. I’ll take at least 2 weeks off for this and we’ll see from there.
Okay server is done… Back to work for me.
